#03 London

Once intended as the capital of Upper Canada, London or the ‘Forest City’ followed a calmer, but rewarding path. Its thriving culture pampers lovers of music, literature, film and the arts, with music standing out as their prime export - to be sampled by InterUrban in February.

Decades of investment and hard work bore audible fruit: London became the newest addition to UNESCO’s Creative Cities network, its music education attracting students from afar. A hotbed for punk in the 70s and 80s, then to a plethora of college bands, it also boasts famous offspring like Justin Bieber and Ryan Gosling. Festivals of country, world music, literature and barbecuing, even a Caribbean festival add colour to London’s cultural offer.
