Reborn as the 'capital of pop', Liverpool did an outstanding job of gaining international acumen for its sporting and cultural achievements.
Transforming its its industrial heritage and investing heavily in culture gained the city the ECoC title already in 2008. Far from abating, the cultural buzz contiues to this day, picking up UNESCO's Creative City mark in 2015. Its roots as a trading town and a harbour gifted Liverpool with the music of continents, still filling the air. This rich amalgam of influences, local talent and decades of the city's focused effort made Liverpool what it is today: a loved and respected player on the global scene.
